1981 Gibson F-5L Mandolin

Description

The F-5 mandolin from Gibson revolutionized the mandolin and set the template for all future mandolins. Featuring the iconic “F” scroll, bound spruce top with bound maple back & sides, ebony fretboard and bridge and the iconic fern inlay with ‘The Gibson’ inlaid in abalone on the headstock. No finer mandolins have been produced and this one is no exception. It plays like butter and has the quintessential bluegrass bark and chomp. This has some standard play wear throughout, the treble side horn has some deterioration which has been stabilized and there appears to be some repair to the bridge which is fully functional. Overall a great Gibson F model.
